I've been trying to connect to my 'soul.' Here are my observations so far.

The ego wants to “arrive” while the soul just wants to be “present.”

As I've been reflecting more intently about what the experience of connectedness to the soul is truly like- i've come to this reflection.

To be present with ones soul is about the practise of PRESENCE.

Every day is a new day. Every moment is a new moment. There is no stacking up of history. There is not even a construct of time. There is no relevance of the past or future because with soul, you do not seek the past or the presence to give anything to you.

You don’t seek to feel good about yourself based on anything you did in the past, for it is already in the past.

You don’t strive for a better tomorrow or await to enjoy pleasures in the future, for the future is also just an illusion.

Both past and future exist in our imaginations (we just do a good job at convincing ourselves they are real).

What only ever really exists is now.

This is why lately I’ve been catching myself when I get caught up in wanting to just “arrive” at the goals I set.

I sometimes work towards results to change my current reality for whatever reason (usually rooted in non-presence)…. I’m discontent, I want more, I think there’s something better over there.

When you live in the moment, you switch from ego to soul.

The ego is construct. It is made from construct, it thrives off construct and it will always be bound by limitations. The ego is the MIND and it wants to make sense of everything through logic and understanding because its primary job is to keep you safe. The ego wants to always be in control.

But by virtue of its essence, it will always be limited.

Soul, on the other hand is surrender, its allowance, its divine and its flowy. Soul has no construct, it has no bounds, it is not and cannot be predictable. Soul is release. It is the divine spirit that lives inside you and it seeks to outwork its purpose here through you.

When you cannot relinquish control - you switch from soul to ego.

This is why connecting to soul is about presence. Stillness. Doing nothing. Allowing.

And this is why it is a daily mastery of self discipline.

You cannot ‘arrive’ at a destination. You cannot get to a place and say ‘I’ve made it now,’

Because when it comes to soul, it is not about striving to get to a certain circumstance.

To be truly present with the soul is to understand that you must release the need for control in any way.

Being present liberates your soul because there is no room for the ego to gain or seek validation from quantifying or measuring results. To a truly present individual, there just “is.”

There is no need to be driven by a change of circumstance or a pursuit of a new result because there is no goal or outcome that is “better” than here and now. The pedestal doesn’t exist. The ideal circumstance is to simply “be in the now.”

That is true abundance.

That is true liberation.

That is true detachment.

There is no better or worse scenario- just the acceptance of what is and what is now.
